To alleviate the potential problem, mopping should
be thoroughly understood as to how the soils are ac-
tually removed from the flooring. The principle of ab-
sorption is how the soil is accumulated and collected
from the flooring. The mop does not extract anything.
Understanding this issue will make the mop and so-
lution work better, and remove more soils from the
flooring. Microfiber mopping systems do not require
as much cleaning solution to achieve the same re-
       sults as traditional string mops.

Microfiber flat-mopping systems can also have a so-
lution application system that does not use a tradi-
tional mop and bucket system, but a “bucket-less
system”. This type of bucket-less system will not re-
use the soiled mop water and leave a cleaner, resi-
       due free floor.

Using a clean bucket and wringer combination, fill
the bucket to the desired level and add the appropri-
ate amount of neutral detergent for the flooring type,
amount of soil and amount of flooring to be serviced.
Place a clean mop and handle combination in the
mopping solution. Track the bucket and wringer
combination to the areas to be serviced and deter-
mine if the flooring requires a wet or damp mopping
       procedure.

Wet mopping is defined as removing the mop from
the bucket and placing the wet mop on the flooring
and beginning to wipe the mop on the flooring area
by using a “figure 8 or S motion, in an effort to dis-
lodge any surface soils. When working with microfi-
ber flat mops, the motion can be side-to-side, front to
back or in a “figure 8 or S” motion.

After the mop solution has been thoroughly distribut-
ed over the area specified, place the mop back in the
bucket solution. Rinse well and take mop out of solu-
tion and place the mop in the wringer. Thoroughly
ring the mop to remove all excess water. Place the
wrung mop on the flooring area where the first solu-
tion was placed and begin to pick up the suspended
       soils and excess solution.

Damp mopping eliminates the first step from above.
The mop is automatically placed in the wringer and
wrung out each time it leaves the mop bucket. This
procedure is ok when the soil load on the flooring is
very light. It also offers better solution control on
